Conor McGowan

Director of immer

Conor is an architect, and registered in Ireland with the RIAI.

He studied architecture at University College Dublin, and the Università della Svizzera italiana, and was a scholarship student in both institutions. At UCD, he received an honours degree, first class, and at USI/AAM, he graduated Magna cum laude from the atelier of Valerio Olgiati.

Prior to setting up his own studio, Conor worked at O’Donnell + Tuomey architects in Dublin and Grafton Architects, also in Dublin. From 2014-15 he co-founded zero-degree machine with Donal Lally. Since then he has acted as a building technical consultant, supervising works at domestic scale, and developed an academic profile in parallel to his practice.

Conor was a studio tutor and design fellow at the UCD school of Architecture from 2014-19, and has, since 2019 been assistant lecturer and now full lecturer at TU Dublin school of architecture.

Prior to studies in architecture, he studied Mechanical engineering in UCD, has since undertaken a masters in structural engineering at the same college. He has honours degrees in both. In addition, Conor has a postgraduate diploma in historic building repair and conservation and in fire engineering from Trinity College Dublin, where he was the co-recipient of the chief fire officers of Ireland award for academic excellence.
